You can delete your Shinobi Japanese account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how, what is removed, and how long it takes.
Option 1 — Delete directly from the app (fastest)
Three taps. Here's exactly what to do:
Your account, learning history, SRS schedule and personal data are removed immediately from our active systems.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email (works even without the app)
If you have already uninstalled Shinobi Japanese, or if you prefer not to use the in-app flow, email us from the address associated with your account:

Include the email address you used to sign up. A real human will reply and confirm deletion within one business day.
What is deleted
- Your profile (name, email, avatar, display language)
- Your learning history, streaks, XP, rank and bookmarks
- Your SRS review schedule and per-word memory state
- Any personal notes, custom flashcards and content you created
- Device tokens used for push notifications
What we keep (and why)
A few records are kept for legal and accounting reasons, then permanently deleted:
- Purchase receipts and invoices — retained for the period required by the tax law of your country (typically 5 to 10 years). These are not linked to an active account anymore, only to a transaction ID.
- Security and anti-abuse logs — retained up to 90 days, stripped of personal identifiers.
- Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics — used to improve the product, cannot be linked back to you.
How long it takes
- In active systems: immediate (at most a few minutes).
- In backups: residual copies are purged within 30 days as backups roll over.
- Confirmation: you receive an email confirming the full deletion.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Billing is handled by Apple or Google, so please also cancel the subscription on your side:
- iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Shinobi Japanese → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Shinobi Japanese → Cancel.
For refund requests, please use reportaproblem.apple.com (iOS) or the Google Play order history (Android).
